Shopify's Agentic Sales Channel: Why Your Brand Needs to Act Now

Many of you might not know this: Shopify now has an Agentic section right in your admin under Sales Channels, and it's a massive opportunity, especially for brands that have been around 3+ years with solid SEO already in place at the product and collection level.

Why it matters: In Q1 2026, AI-driven traffic to Shopify stores grew 8x year over year, and orders from AI-powered searches increased nearly 13x. McKinsey estimates the global agentic commerce opportunity could reach $3 to $5 trillion by 2030. This isn't a nice-to-have anymore.

How it works: You can push your product content directly from Shopify through Shopify Catalog, no need to mess around with feeds or third-party workarounds. Your products become discoverable in AI channels like ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity. Checkout is powered by Shop Pay (which already handles 14% of US e-commerce), and customers on Google AI Mode and Copilot can complete purchases without ever leaving the chat.

What Shopify walks you through:

  • Product sync: which products are connected and discoverable
  • Policy compliance: updating your store policies to meet data-sharing requirements
  • Performance analytics: understanding how your products perform on agentic storefronts
  • Search ranking tests: this is brand new. You can run search queries to see how your products rank within AI-driven searches

You also have the option to let Shopify manage all AI channels for you automatically (and get enrolled in future channels as they launch), or manage each one individually.

Our experience: Once we submitted products to the Shopify agentic channel, we ran an inquiry to check rankings. One of our services, the Amazon MCF and Buy with Prime app integration for Shopify, ranked at the top for its search category. Granted, it's a niche service (maybe 1 in 1,000 companies need it, and it accounts for less than 5% of our total services), but it validates that the system works, and early movers are getting visibility.

The bottom line: If your team has already implemented this successfully, you're ahead of the game. If not, this is something you need to prioritize now. Being early to new platforms is where the biggest opportunities live in e-commerce.
